Today’s world has a major vacuum, a massive dearth of good leaders and an enormous number of people who are great at managing a group of people. Going to work means a 9-5 desk job. You constantly complete tasks without having to put any creative effort of your own. All you’ve got to do is follow instructions, finish tasks before deadlines and make sure your manager is happy. You come in 5 minutes early, leave five minutes late, complete tasks, like a monotonous robot with no sense of purpose and total lack of fulfilment. A manager is definitely happy with such an employee because deadlines have been met and the task has been completed. Let us take a look at some examples of self improvement goals at work.
You need to understand where you need to improve if you want to improve. Getting the appropriate definition is basic because all that comes along depends on the definition. Organisations need to assert the focal point of employee engagement, and what they want in it to assess and improve (Hoxsey, 2010). Failing to do this will lead to even more problems. Measuring employee engagement is dependant on your organization’s definition of engagement. The other types of engagement that your organization seeks, can be its focus like has been previously described.
Many organizations conduct employee engagement surveys. This is done to try to figure out how to drive employee engagement. This shows whether you have clearly defined engagement as it connects to your organization, selected a series of measurements that align with your definition and focus and focused where your organization wants to improve engagement. However, a large number of organizations simply conduct the survey and don’t care about the results until it is time to do it again. This is wrong. Employee engagement is the development of “an organization-wide engagement strategy, and it can potentially result in firm and durable changes.
To be an effective leader, the skill set is important, however, if the leader fails to be confident, then there won’t be enough room to express the skill set. Or at least, the people don’t listen to the those who are not confident. A leader must be commanding and this means, the leader must be sound in his decisions and be confident about his actions. Only then, the followers will not have doubts in following the decisions taken by the leader. This helps much when there is a project that needs to be submitted within a critical deadline. The orderly team will be able complete the project successfully. Assertiveness is the key to being confident. However, the followers may easily recognize overconfidence, so maintaining the level of confidence is much important.
The question is, will this work In today’s world with woke millennials who specialise in more than one skill, who know they don’t need to work under someone and can make more money as a youtuber than they will ever make under your employment?! No. Such issues like the employee dissatisfaction only lead to the lag in the project and many more. With a good leader, the employees can given the feeling of doing contended work and such work can help them feel the sense of purpose and fulfilment. As discussed earlier, a good leader must have some constant traits and that will help manage the employee or project related issues with ease.
